Cakes & Coffee: A Dog Lover's Social

Our first Cakes & Coffee: A Dog Lover’s Social is officially in the books and we’re still smiling about it.

When we started planning Cakes & Coffee, the idea was pretty simple: create a space for dog people to get together, do something fun, meet other people who are equally obsessed with their dogs, and leave with something cute (and edible) for their pup.

And it turned out even better than we imagined.

So, what exactly was Cakes & Coffee?

Guests joined us for an afternoon of cake decorating, drinks, good food, and giveaways.

Each guest received their own 4-inch Pup Pastry cake to decorate for their pup. We provided the cakes, colorful dog-friendly buttercream, piping bags, decorating tools, and a quick demonstration before everyone got to work creating their own masterpiece.

There were plenty of goodies, too.

Cake decorating may have been the main event, but we wanted the entire afternoon to feel like a little treat for the humans and their dogs.

Guests were able to enjoy a complimentary drink from Unhinged Coffee & Co., light bites, and mini bundt cakes from Bundts by Brenee.

And obviously, we couldn't send the pups home empty-handed.

Everyone left with a Pup Pastry goodie bag, and we had raffle prizes throughout the event so a few guests got to head home with a little extra.

Basically: cake for the dogs, treats for the humans, drinks, goodies, and a room full of people who don't think you're weird for having approximately 4,000 photos of your dog on your phone.

The best part? The people.

More than anything, Cakes & Coffee reminded us why we want to keep creating experiences like this.

Pup Pastry has always been about making really good things for dogs, but there's a whole community on the other side of those treats. People who plan their weekends around their dogs. People who celebrate dog birthdays. People who want to learn more, try new things, meet other dog parents, and make memories with their pups.

We want to create more spaces for that. Cakes & Coffee was such a success that this definitely won't be the last one. We're already thinking about future Cakes & Coffee events—with new themes, new cakes, and a few things we've learned from round one.

But we're also dreaming up events beyond cake decorating.

The goal is to continue building Pup Pastry Social Club into a place where dog lovers can come together for genuinely fun experiences. Some might involve food. Some might involve crafts. Some might involve learning something new. Some might just be an excuse to get out of the house and hang out with a bunch of dogs. We're okay with all of the above.
