This is the Pup Pastry and Suki backstory. Suki is a three year old mini poodle and Bichon Frise. She has a ton of energy and is a velcro dog. She's always in step with me and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I first started noticing Suki's bald patches right after I fed her some new treats. It was hard to pinpoint because I made the rookie mistake of giving her multiple new things at once.
I took her to the vet and they gave her Apoquel. It worked and we went on about our lives. A few months later, I gave her more treats and she had the same reaction. I looked at the ingredients of the old treats and the new ones and the only ingredient that was the same was molasses.
I took her back to the vet and we were once again prescribed Apoquel and some other things and again, it worked for a while, but soon the patches multiplied and got worse. She would nip and scratch until she was down to skin and it was red.
I finally did some research on common health issues of mini poodles and Bichon frise's and one that came up was sebaceous adenitis. That's when I started to overload her diet with omega 3's and really looked at what she was eating.
