Thanksgiving Do's & Don'ts

As the holiday season is quickly approaching, we are all feeling the love and the anticipation of who is bringing what to Thanksgiving. I know I am. My favorite dishes are mashed potatoes & gravy, yams, stuffing, ham, and of course the turkey. When we sit around the table this year, passing the food around, let's remember that one member of the family who should be skipped is our doggies.

While as pet parents we want to spoil our dogs, we also want them to be as healthy as possible and live a long life and giving them certain table foods will only hurt their stomachs in the long run. So let's go over some dog friendly, and not so friendly, Thanksgiving foods that they can enjoy.

Starting with the star of the show, turkey. Turkey with the skin off, and bone free, is perfect for your dogs. Sweet potatoes and pumpkin are great for dogs as sweet potato offers a great source of fiber and pumpkin is a great digestive aid. Our Thankful Collection has both of those super ingredients in the cookies!

Other dog safe food are peas, potatoes, string beans, and apples, but make sure these are all plain and the apple is skin and core free!

Thanksgiving food that is an absolute no no is: stuffing, casseroles, ham, pies, and anything else that will contain spices.

Have a great Thanksgiving!!!
